Land's Edge: Sydney Harbour
CBFS - Stage 2

Programming:

All studies are designed and written to meet Board of Studies subject syllabus outcomes. Duration of programs can vary between 2 hours up to a full day. Students in Stage 2 will have the opportunity to complete an age and ability-appropriate student booklet during the activity. They are also encouraged to become actively involved in all sensory, initiative, environmental and curriculum activities. Land's Edge provides all necessary equipment for each activity including work booklets (as mentioned), appendices, resource equipment and safety equipment.

Aims

  • To investigate current and past uses of the coastal environment at Chowder Bay and Sydney Harbour and consider future uses and issues
  • To identify and observe the interactions between plants and animals within the coastal environment at Chowder Bay
  • To identify the impact of present and potential environmental problems within Sydney Harbour and its foreshores
  • To examine the current management plans and discuss possible strategies for alternate plans in the future
  • To encourage participation in activities where students have the opportunity to:
    - View the coastal environment from a different perspective
    - Observe and record invertebrate data
    - Examine a coastal ecosystem and look at the interaction of plants and animals within this environment
    - Increase environmental awareness and care
