Seven Mile Beach and the adjacent National Park is the most ideal beach to learn to surf in Australia. Its waves are renowned for being consistently the perfect size and form on which to learn to surf. Seven Mile Beach is also known for its safe water conditions. Land’s Edge operates from secluded locations along the beach where the waves are uncrowded – participants won’t have to negotiate other groups while in the water. Land’s Edge lessons and packages include all equipment and have a staff to participant ratio of no more than 1:8. Land’s Edge holds a NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service licence – a Parks Eco Pass - to conduct instructional and educational courses and guided tours in NSW national parks and reserves including Seven Mile Beach National Park. Land’s Edge Surf School has an impeccable safety record. About the DirectorAntony Butcher, Director of the Land’s Edge Surf School, strongly believes that learning to surf and spending time in the waves is one of the best ways people can experience all the Australian coastal environment has to offer in a safe, enjoyable and educational manner. Antony (who has surfed around Australia for 25 years and often overseas) has never competed in a surf event in either a local, state, national or international arena. Antony firmly believes that organised surfing competition is not a prerequisite for enjoying surfing nor having the skills and knowledge to run a safe, fun and successful surf school. What Antony does hold is a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Outdoor Education, a Graduate Diploma in Education, Workplace Training and Assesses Certificate, First Aid Certificates, Surf Rescue Certificate, numerous Instructing Certificates including Surfing, Snorkelling, Canoeing, Bushwalking and Backcountry Ski Touring. He also has 20 years’ experience in taking people into natural places, instructing them in various activities, one of his favourites of which, of course, is surfing. |
