Hundreds of schools from across NSW and the ACT have surfed with Land’s Edge during this time. Staff
As one of Australia’s foremost outdoor education companies, the majority of Land’s Edge’s surf school staff are educators first and foremost. Their backgrounds are in education outdoors and their passion happens to be surfing. The combination of Land’s Edge staff being highly qualified and experienced in educating young people and also having the appropriate surfing qualifications and experience makes the decision to surf with Land’s Edge an easy one for teachers.
Location
Seven Mile Beach National Park is Australia’s most ideal beach to learn to surf. Its waves are renowned for being consistently the perfect size and form on which to learn to surf. Seven Mile Beach is also known to be a safe beach. Land’s Edge operates from a location on the beach where the waves are uncrowded and the beach is secluded – school groups won’t have to negotiate others while in the water. Schools participating in Land’s Edge’s outdoor education programs also have the opportunity to participate in surfing lessons in Murramarang National Park near Bateman’s Bay. The Land’s Edge Surf School also offers a Surf Safari for schools. The Surf Safari location is the Crescent Head area on the NSW North Coast. A 3-5 day camping/surfing trip, students have the opportunity to explore the NSW North Coast seeking out waves in the many National Parks in the area. Lesson Types
Land’s Edge Surf School provides lessons that meet syllabus outcomes across the curriculum including outdoor education, PDHPE and outdoor recreation. Lessons and packages are also provided for year groups; school camp groups and for a fun and informative end-of-year and beginning-of-year school experience. Overseas student groups are welcome. Land’s Edge Surf School conducts surf lessons year round for schools. There are two options from which to choose: Three hour lessons provides a more in-depth analysis of beach and surf awareness through our Surf Awareness Course, held prior to participants going to the beach. It covers wave formation, rips and currents, types of waves, safety techniques and rules of the surf zone. This course is followed by a two-hour surf lesson. Land’s Edge also tailors surfing packages to meet individual school requirements. Safety
Land’s Edge Surf School has an impeccable safety track record. Prior to lessons Land’s Edge liaises with schools regarding relevant paperwork including risk management, public liability, child protection, student medical forms and educational resources. Equipment and further lesson information

Land’s Edge surfing sessions foster in young people a love of, and respect for, the beach environment and the ocean. Surfing also provides the vehicle (literally!) for young people’s desire for physical contact with the natural environment and for them to experience ‘risk’ in an exhilarating yet safe manner. |
